Create the inspection
The inspector signs in and enters the location, viewer name and an optional job reference. InspectStream creates a private session and a short code before the camera turns on.
How it works
InspectStream is not a general video meeting tool. The workflow is purpose-built for an inspector in the field and invited viewers who need to understand what the inspector sees.
The inspector signs in and enters the location, viewer name and an optional job reference. InspectStream creates a private session and a short code before the camera turns on.
The inspector sends the link through the phone’s normal share sheet, so it can arrive from a familiar number or existing conversation. The staging screen shows when an invited viewer has opened it.
The rear camera publishes a low-latency stream while the inspector narrates the conditions. A persistent recording indicator, viewer count and connection status keep the operator informed without cluttering the field controls.
The inspector can capture full-resolution stills from the active camera while continuing the live walkthrough. Each image stays attached to the inspection instead of being mixed into a personal camera roll.
Ending the inspection closes the room and expires viewer access. The recording, stills and timestamped event history remain available to the organization through the dashboard.
Viewer experience
The viewer is not joining a conference call. Their access is receive-only, so the page can open directly into the stream without asking for camera or microphone permissions.
NO_INSTALLThe link works on modern mobile and desktop browsers without an app download or user account.
NO_LOBBYThe viewer does not have to enter a name, configure a device or wait in a meeting room.
RECEIVE_ONLYViewer tokens cannot publish audio or video, which removes both the permission prompt and the risk of joining with a camera on.
EXPIRESThe invitation is useful during the inspection and stops working when the inspection is over.
Known limitations
If an inspector switches apps or takes a call in Safari, iOS may suspend the live camera. The viewer remains connected and the inspector can resume after returning.
The completed recording may take seconds or minutes to finalize after a session ends. The dashboard shows a pending state rather than a broken player.
Weak service can reduce quality gracefully. A location with no usable data connection still requires conventional offline photos and notes.
